Nestor Domdom retired as an Immigration Officer from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Department of Homeland Security after serving for over 20 years. He first entered the Service as the New York District Training Officer for INS, Department of Justice at 26 Federal Plaza, New York, NY. He transferred to Asylum Office in Rosedale, NY after completing the Asylum Officer Training course in 1998 in FLETC, Glynco, GA. In 2000, he returned to Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA for Immigration Officer Training course. After completing the 8 weeks course, he returned to New York District, 26 Federal Plaza, New York, NY where he worked as Adjudications Officer. The job title was changed to Immigration Services Officer when Department of Homeland Security was created to oversee various law enforcement agencies like U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, (USCIS). Nestor had the opportunity to work in various sections of the New York District dealing with citizenship matter and immigration areas until his retirement.
Nestor's educational and employment background aside from Immigration included: Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology, Manila, Philippines. He worked as a metallurgical engineer-in-trainee for Atlas Mining Corporation, Cebu, Philippines. He worked as a metallurgical engineer for Engineering Equipment, Inc. (Foundry Division), Mandaluyong, Philippines. He was employed as a metallurgist/minerals analyst for U. S. Bureau of Mines, Denver, CO. He worked as a Quality Control Engineer, Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corp., Hauppauge, NY.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in government and politics from Empire State College, State University of New York, Albany, NY.
He completed his MBA in management and marketing from Adelphi University, Garden City, New York. He took post graduate courses in MSA-IRM at Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, MI.
Nestor served on active duty in the U. S. Navy and retired after over 20 years of military service. He was involved in personnel administration, educational services, training management, and programs operation. He was a certified Navy Instructor, JAG investigator, and qualified Aviation Warfare Specialist. He received several medals and awards such as: Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medals (with 2 oak leaf), rifle marksmanship medal, pistol marksmanship medal, good conduct medal (with 3 oak leaf), Armed Forces Reserve Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Medal, Sea Service Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation medal, letters of commendation and letters of appreciation from Commanding Officers and admirals.
